Our Story

Supporting foster families in Monmouth and Middlesex counties with love and essential resources.
For nearly a decade, my family has opened our home and hearts as foster parents. Through that journey, our family saw firsthand how much love and support children need when entering foster care. About three years ago, we realized something was missing in our own community: more local resources for families in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. While there are wonderful foster closets across New Jersey, we knew our area needed one too — and so, The Village Foster Closet of Holmdel was born.

What began as a small dream has grown into a heartfelt mission. Our goal is simple: to provide immediate, compassionate support to foster families, kinship caregivers, and teens who have aged out of the system. When a child enters care — often suddenly — foster families can feel overwhelmed. We’re here to meet their needs, whether it’s clothing, shoes, hygiene products, school supplies, bedding, or just a reassuring voice saying, “You’re not alone.”

Here for the Long Run

Families are welcome to return anytime they need support — we are not just a one-time stop. We are part of their village.

We also proudly assist kinship families — relatives who step in to care for children, often with little time or resources. These caregivers play a vital role in keeping families together, and we are here to help lighten their load.

And for the young adults aging out of foster care, we offer essentials that provide not only comfort, but dignity. Many of these young people are starting adulthood on their own — we want them to know they are still seen, valued, and supported.
